Turn your saved recipes into a meal plan and grocery list

By Saverio Mazza ยท

To build a grocery list from your recipes in Memotaste, add them to the dates when you plan to cook and open Ingredients. The list uses upcoming meals within the displayed date range, not your entire recipe collection. Check the range and separate what you need to buy from what you already have.

Steps

  1. 1

    Choose a realistic date range

Start with the days you will eat at home. Guided planning lets you choose a start and end date; you can also add recipes manually to individual days. Leave space for meals out instead of filling every slot automatically.

  2. 2

Assign recipes to dates and meals

Pick recipes from your collection and distinguish lunch from dinner. If your plans change, move a recipe to another day or change its meal type from the planned recipe's menu without deleting it from your recipe collection.

  3. 3

Check the ingredient list's date range

Open Ingredients from the planner. The range at the top determines which meals contribute to the list: a recipe outside those dates is outside the filter, not a missing ingredient. Past days are excluded. Expand the arrow next to an ingredient to see the associated recipes.

  4. 4

Review amounts and mark what you have

Check quantities against the servings you will cook, then check your fridge and pantry. Mark ingredients you already have so the to-buy section shows what is missing. Quantities in different units may remain separate: grams and tablespoons cannot simply be added as though they were the same measurement.

Common questions

Why is a saved recipe missing from my grocery list?
Saving and planning a recipe are separate actions. To contribute ingredients it must be assigned to an upcoming meal within the displayed date range. Also check ingredients you have already marked as available.
Does the list include meals from previous days?
No. The list generated from the plan excludes past days. Today's meals can still appear: it does not automatically track what you have already cooked or eaten.
Do I have to use automatic meal planning?
No. You can choose and plan your recipes manually. Preferences help organize your choices, but always check that the result suits the people who will be eating.
